Midday personality Jazzi Black and professional creative 1WILLAYE who were once peers at Prairie View A&M University, reconnect too discuss his rise in the music world. 1WILLAYE said it’s been a journey explaining, “(I)just started off with DJing, doing my thing with that. Got a chance to go on tour a couple of times, you know what I’m saying. Produced a platinum record, all that good stuff. And I think by the time I was back at home just kind of wondering what I was finna do with my life, it just hit me one day.” After speaking with peers, investing his own money, and countless hours experimenting, he had developed his break out record.

In the first three months, the music video to his hit single ‘Close to You’ gained over 160k+ views and counting with people all over the country learning the line dance. In addition to his musical passion, 1WILLAYE is dedicated to serving the community through his non-profit ‘4 For The Future’ that focuses on these 4 Pillars of Life including Time Management, Emotional Intelligence, Grit, and College/Career Readiness.
