FRISCO – Frisco middle school students are in big trouble after posting threatening comments toward one of their teachers on the social networking website Facebook.
The threats came to light earlier in the week, which was when someone who saw the disturbing Facebook page alerted school administrators. By Wednesday morning, the page was gone.
Frisco Independent School District officials confirmed at least two students were disciplined.
The Staley Middle School students created a Facebook group aimed at a social studies teacher. The title of the page was called “I hate Mrs,” with the teacher’s name included.
“I’m really surprised because I know she’s one of my kid’s teachers and he loves her,” said Lana Levy a parent whose son is one of the teacher’s students.
“Join now and maybe we can kill her together,” was written on the page. “We are going to kill her soon.”
Many other students who are in the teacher’s class said they can’t understand why their classmates would have written such comments.
“That’s just inappropriate”, said Trace Howard, a sixth grade student at the school.
“I don’t get why they would do that since she’s a nice teacher,” said Austin Homsombath, another one of her students.
Students often use the social networking website to lash out at their teachers. News 8 searched “I hate Mrs.” and got 1,400 results. When “I hate Mr.” was searched, 3,100 results popped up.
Benny Alejandro, a single dad who has a daughter at the school, said it’s a parent problem too.
“I think parents need to pay more attention to what kids are doing on the computer,” he said.
Frisco ISD would not discuss the punishment, but several students said those responsible were suspended from the school.
