BROWNSVILLE, Texas – South Texas prosecutors are accusing a high school assistant principal of soliciting sex from students using text messages.

James Camden McKinney, a 48-year-old assistant principal at Porter High School in Brownsville, was arrested last month on a charge of online solicitation of a minor involving a 15-year-old student.

He turned himself in Tuesday after learning he was wanted on four more charges of having improper relationships with a student, his attorney said.

McKinney was in a Brownsville jail Wednesday after failing to post bond.

Defense attorney Robert Garza told the Brownsville Herald that McKinney has been suspended since the investigation began in October. Garza didn’t immediately return a call to the AP on Wednesday.
