You tend to work with lesser known producers. Is that a conscious decision or would you rather work with big name producers?

Well, for one thing, they’re very expensive. That’s not the main reason I work with lesser known producers. It’s kinda like a Rocky Balboa thing. It’s an underdog thing. You know, the people who haven’t gotten their just due. I like to work with those people because they’re hungry. They have passion and it’s not all about the money. I also love that team feel so to do this album with a short number of producers who’ve been overlooked is great. I will continue to do so. I put out an APB on my social media pages and we got some good stuff.

When we first spoke, you said your first album “After My Time” was about a young man searching. “Fresh: The Definition” was that young man coming into his own and realizing the way he wanted to be loved and to love the women in his life. How would you describe the man who made this project “City Heart, Southern Soul”?

It’s about a man who is finally comfortable with who he is. It’s about leaving behind all of your cares and worries and having a good time. So this project is about someone who can face the works with their chin up.

Make sure you go and pick up Noel Gourdin’s latest album “City Heart, Southern Soul” which is in stores right now!
