PLANO ISD MAKE BUDGET CUTS

Plano Independent School Department went ahead with a second round of layoffs on Tuesday.

The first round of layoffs happened last Jan. when administrative positions were eliminated.

This time the classroom will feel the brunt. It is estimated the district will lose between $35 and 65 million.

Principals are tasked with figuring out who will go. Every program, every teacher, every classroom are potentially on the chopping block. They have until April 5 to make the

decisions and report back to the board.  In a unanimous decision, board members agreed teachers are among the many necessary budget cuts.
