For over 50 years the Texas Rangers fans have waited for a World Series win and today they got to show the world who ‘Went And Took It’! According to the Arlington Fire Dept., 500,000 to 700,000 fans showed up to celebrate today!

The ceremony, which started at 12:15 PM, followed by a ceremony at 1:15 PM is still active, as fans are still on a high from the win that happened Wednesday. With Arlington being home to attractions like Six Flags over Texas and The Parks Mall, most North Texans were thinking of a way to get in and out without the hustle. Many fans started showing up last night at 12 A.M. to camp out for the big event!

NBC 5 DFW reports, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said in a statement. “Mayor Tom Vandergriff went to D.C. and convinced the Washington Senators to become the Texas Rangers and move to what at that time was a small bedroom community in the middle of the Metroplex. The Rangers have stayed with Arlington for 51 years. We’ve helped them build three stadiums here, the community has supported them, the City Councils have supported them, and the Rangers have reciprocated year after year with their commitment to the community. This year, they reciprocated with a World Series championship. We want fans to come out to the Entertainment District this Friday and really enjoy the moment, soak it all up and have a great time.”
