97 Days of Summer: A Day of Fun and Giving Back in Arlington(Photos)

Although rain was in the forecast, Radio One Dallas brought the warm and vibrant energy to Arlington, Texas at the Beacon Recreation Center to kickoff 97 Days of Summer Block Party! The event was a success, bringing together families and friends for a day filled with fun, relaxation, and generosity.

Spreading Literacy with Hopeful Heartbreakers

One of the standout initiatives of the day was the book drive in collaboration with Hopeful Heartbreakers. With a goal to encourage summer literacy among children, the drive successfully collected 102 books. These books, donated by the community, will help to inspire and nurture a love for reading in kids throughout the summer months. The joy on the children’s faces as they received their new books was truly heartwarming, showcasing the impact of collective community efforts.

Finding Peace with Yoga Nidra & W.A.A.S Gallery

The event also featured a relaxing yoga and meditation session, led by the talented Brandy Michele Adams of W.A.A.S Gallery. Participants of all ages gathered on their mats, finding peace and mindfulness amidst the hustle and bustle of the world. Brandy’s calming guidance provided much-needed rest, allowing everyone to recharge and enjoy the rest of the day’s festivities with renewed energy.

Creativity and Fun at the Kids Color Corner

The Kids Color Corner was a hit among the young attendees, offering a space for children to unleash their creativity. With a variety of coloring materials and fun templates, kids spent hours engaged in artistic expression. This corner not only entertained the little ones but also provided a platform for them to express their imagination.

Exciting Games and Prizes

The block party was buzzing with excitement as families participated in a range of games, with the chance to win fantastic prize packs. The most coveted prizes were tickets to Six Flags and Universoul Circus, sparking enthusiastic participation from both kids and adults. From Jamaican delicacies to hearty breakfast treats and gourmet food box offerings, there was something to satisfy every palate. The aroma of delicious food wafting through the air added to the party atmosphere, ensuring that no one left hungry.
