The Dallas Morning News is reporting that The annual Fireworks show at Fair Park will be cancelled this year due to the current budget shortfall the City of Dallas is face with this year.

The Friend’s of Fair Park president, Craig Holcolm has stated that, “”In these economic times, we could not identify the money necessary to put on a first class show. So we decided it was better to not do something that was not worthy of July 4.”

The annual fireworks show at Fair Park is a free event and the cost of the event is paid for with corporate donations and with the economy in the shape that it is in, apparently the corporations could find away to cover the costs this year.

The decision to cancel this years fireworks show was made earlier this week. Dallas joins a list of city across Texas, who will either cancel their firework shows and celebrations or scale them back.

Last year Carrolton and Garland canceled their Independence Day celebrations.

Looks like this year’s Independence Day won’t go off with a BANG !
