Congratulations are in order for Miss Juneteenth DFW 2023, Raven Johnson who has gained two new crowns as Miss Texas Teen Volunteer and Miss Black Texas Teen! Just two years ago her life changed after competing in the historical Juneteenth Pageant and launching her platform “It Girls, aimed to combat negative standards and celebrate body positivity and natural beauty as shared on social media. Now a graduate of Frisco ISD’s, Emerson High School, Johnson has expanded her accolades by becoming a member of the National Honor Society and committed to Morgan State University as a D1 Track and Field athlete!

However, her story is just beginning! As an only child and dog mom of two, Raven finds time to run her own nail business ‘Nails by Noel’ and remains an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Despite her hectic schedule, she is focused and training diligently for the Miss Black USA Talented Teen Competition in Washington D.C on August 2! There, Johnson will have the chance to showcase her talents, poise, and speaking at chance to win the national crown. She will also gain more exposure for her platforms “It Girls” and newest initiative Gowns for Crowns to help donate gowns to deserving young ladies that want to enter pageantry.

Before heading off to Nationals, you can watch Raven hosting Opal’s Walk for Freedom on NBC live Thursday, June 19th, alongside Dr. Opal Lee who will complete her annual 2.5-mile walk to recognize the 2.5 years it took for the news and enforcement of freedom to reach the enslaved people in Texas.
