Could Marijuana Be Decriminalized In Texas?

Although it is still illegal to possess marijuana in Texas, Dallas may become the biggest city in the state to stop prosecuting people for having tiny amounts of the drug.
A sufficient number of signatures have been collected to place the matter on the November ballot, according to the City of Dallas.

Currently those in Dallas who possess less than two ounces of marijuana are already subject to citations rather than arrests. A proposal for a ballot measure would raise that limit to four ounces.
According to Fox4 News, In an effort to further decriminalize marijuana in Dallas, a coalition of organizations staged a rally earlier this year.
In order to have the Dallas Freedom Act put on the November ballot, the group Ground Game Texas needed the signatures of twenty thousand registered Dallas voters.
The city informed the group this month that they fulfilled the criteria to have the item placed on the ballot.
The Dallas City Council’s approval of the ballot issue is only formal. Upon the council’s August return, that is likely to transpire.
After that, in November, people would get to cast their ballots for the proposition.
