Questions from the Audience:

Kim from Ft. Worth: What can we do to help the kids that joins gangs only to have protection or feel a sense of family?

Craig Watkins: We as a city have to help the kids with programs and the parents and teachers have to step in and create an environment where gangs aren’t necessary.

Audience member: How can we stop the at night with Dart?

Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine R. Caraway: We have to treat these young men as boys. We are the adults and we have to lead them in the right direction.

Pastor Freddy Haynes: Makes a suggestion that some churches should start programs for young kids to congregate at the church. Next meeting we should let the young people have a voice so it doesn’t feel as if they are being spoken down to instead they can feel as if they are involved.

Audience question: Kids are influenced by music that they hear so how can we stop this?

Frank Moss- We need to practice what we preach. That is the music sells but we still have to draw the line at some point. My son is a rapper and we speak with him and advise him what type of language to use. It starts within the home. Strong family values are important.
