Dallas Police Cheif David Brown confirms at least 11 officers have been shot and four are dead in a press conference issued around 11 p.m. Thursday at a protest of officer-involved shootings.

Brown reports that SWAT currently has a suspect cornered in the parking garage of El Centro College in downtown Dallas and are negotiating with him to surrender.

If you have any information regarding the shooting, DPD asks you to call 214-671-3485.

This situation remains and active-shooter situation so police have asked everyone to take shelter and avoid downtown Dallas.

Brown initially said 10 officers were shot, but a short time later said an 11th officer had been shot in an exchange of gunfire with one of the suspects, according to ABC 8.

“Tonight it appears that two snipers shot ten police officers from elevated positions during the protest/rally,” Brown wrote in an earlier statement. “Three officers are deceased, two are in surgery and three are in critical condition. An intensive search for suspects is currently underway. No suspects are in custody at this time.”

Those officers shot include both Dallas PD and DART officers. They have been taken to both Parkland Hospital and Baylor Medical Center.

UPDATE: Around 2 a.m. Another officer was confirmed dead bringing the current death toll to 5.
