The Butler and Selma star David Oyelowo is teaming up with Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o for her new project. Oyelowo will star with Nyong’o in the independent film, Americanah according to Variety. Based on the Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie novel of the same name, the drama centers on two young Nigerians who emigrate to the United States. The high school sweethearts face a tough battle when they are torn away from each other.

Nyong’o will also pull double duty as a producer on the film alongside Brad Pitt and his Plan B production company with Andrea Calderwood. Pitt’s Plan B has also served as the company to produce Nyong’o’s Academy-Award winning debut in 12 Years A Slave and Oyelowo’s Selma. The movie is currently searching for a director and writer to take on the project. No production start date has been given.
