A plus-size model from Seattle has landed on Elle Spain’s cover – and she looks flat-out amazing. Tara Lynn was the face of H&M’s “Big is Beautiful” campaign in 2011 and has been featured in magazines overseas (Elle France and Vogue Italia among them).

In the wake of all of the ongoing controversy re: the Melissa McCarthy Elle cover, it’s refreshing to see a curvier model featured on the cover of an internationally-acclaimed mag without being covered up.

However, this particular issue is not without its share of controversy as well. While body diversity is a concept both the media and fashion industries have struggled with, this cover promotes the idea that there are two types of women. The cover declares Lynn a “Mujer Real” or “real woman”, implying that women who are too skinny are somehow not “real”.

What do you think? Should magazines aim to promote women of all sizes on covers while refraining from using labels like “real women”? Let us know in the comments!
