You may have heard Veda Loca talking about the parody video on Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital YouTube Channel which featured comedians acting out a sex scene that involved slave-turned-abolitionist Harriet Tubman and her master.
This video caused outrage from people deeming the video racist and disrespectful and wanted it removed from the channel. Well Russell obliged, taking down the video and issuing an apology saying “When my buddies from the NAACP called and asked me to take down the Harriet Tubman video from the All Def Digital YouTube channel and apologize, I agreed.”
Ya know, they say comedy is subjective, but when the majority feel the same type of way about it, it’s probably a safe bet to believe their feeling are correct. Check out more of Russell’s apology here and let us know what you think. Was taking down the video the right thing to do?
