An ex-convict used faith to get an accused purse snatcher to return a woman’s purse.

Jeremy Martin was released from jail this past November. He turned to religion afterward to change his life.

Earlier this month as he was walking to his apartment in the 1000 block of Stone Canyon in north Dallas, he heard a woman scream for help.

A man was beating the woman as she held on to her 6-year-old child. The man grabbed her purse and started running.

Martin chased the man and caught up with him a block away. He convinced him to hand over the purse.

“I was like look man, God loves you. You don’t have to do this. You need food, here’s my number,” he said.

The victim said Martin not only helped her get her purse back, he also got a license plate number for the car the thief was driving.

“I told him thank you for helping me. He said don’t thank me, thank God because I was here,” she said.

Police have not yet made an arrest but said they do have solid leads.
