Mavs Assistant Coach Darrell Armstrong Arrested

Darrell Armstrong, a long-time assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks, was arrested on Saturday morning over allegations of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to the Dallas Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Ross Avenue. Reports indicate that Armstrong, 56, was involved in an argument with a woman, during which he allegedly hit her with a firearm and threatened to shoot her.
Armstrong, now in his 10th season with the Mavericks as an assistant coach, played 14 seasons as an NBA point guard for multiple franchises, including a brief stint with the Mavericks in 2004–2005.
Following the arrest, the Dallas Mavericks issued a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the situation. The team confirmed that Armstrong has been placed on administrative suspension while they review the case. “The Dallas Mavericks are aware of an incident involving a member of our staff and are gathering all relevant information surrounding the incident. We take this matter seriously,” read part of their statement.
The franchise emphasized that they would allow the legal process to proceed without further comment for the time being.
