It’s a story line that is unfortunately relevant to both now and then. A story line, that isn’t just a story, but a reality for African-Americans all over our country. A reality that Netflix is bringing to life in, Seven Seconds.

Seven Seconds is an upcoming original crime anthology series that tells the story of Brenton Butler, a black teenager who is the victim of a hit and run. The perpetrator? A white cop. Following the accident, the New Jersey city is overwhelmed with racial tensions as police involved in the accident attempt to cover up the tragic death of an innocent teen who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The series successfully goes “beyond the headlines” by diving into the life of the family, the prosecutors, the police involved, and the media slander of Butler (something we’re all too familiar with).

We had the opportunity to speak with breakout star, Clare-Hope Ashitey, who plays Assistant District Attorney KJ Harper, about conversations she hopes this series sparks, and more.

Will justice be rightfully served? We recommend you tune in to find out.
