We heard it would happen and really had no doubts ‘Starboy’ would debut at the number one spot, but the total number of copies moved is quite shocking.

The Weeknd destroyed the competition selling 348,000 albums and scoring the third-largest opening week of the year behind Drake’s ‘Views’ (1.04 million units) and Beyoncé’s ‘LEMONADE’ (653,000 units). This is his second back-to-back No. 1 after last year’s ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ sold 412,000 copies.

If you bought an album or two, you’ve contributed to this massive feat, so pat yourself on the back. Perhaps he’ll personally thank you in front of thousands when he hits the American Airlines Center for his ‘Starboy Tour’ on May 4? Keep it on The Beat to win your way in!
