Celebrating Spring Style In The Power Of Women

Variety’s Power of Women event had a few of Black Hollywood’s finest sprinkling their magic everywhere…and stylishly.

Actress and producer Danai Gurira wore a $1,990.00 Oscar de la Renta sleeveless metallic purple and pink dress. She paired the look with black pumps and a matching elongated clutch. This shift dress definitely shows off Danai’s toned arms, but I would have loved if she had paired with slightly more flashy earrings to accent her fabulous hairstyle. A more dynamic and detailed clutch, like this Jimmy Choo leather clutch option, would have upped her look as well.

Our current cover girl, “it” girl, Misty Copeland, also wore Oscar de la Renta to the luncheon. Sporting a midi, a-line, abstract print magenta rose dress, she wore her hair back, showing off a pastel pink lip. I love that she wore yellow pumps to really bring together the spring look!

Actress Lupita Nyong’o was also an honoree at Variety’s luncheon arriving in a chartreuse daisy print dress and complimentary pink suede kitten heels. She looks so modern and feminine! I love the red lip. She wore a fuschia coat to the event that she took off once inside and mingling. The actress was honored for her work with Mother Health International, an organization helping pregnant women and children in need. Lupita’s involvement in the organization is passionate,

“To have women interested in making the care of a women giving birth better is really important to the next generation to stop the cycle of violence these women live in. [And] Now that I’m working on Eclipsed, these themes are very, very relevant in the play Eclipsed. So In a sense, what Eclipsed is doing is bringing an emotional awareness to something Mother Health International does very practically.”
