Watch 2 Chainz & Lil Wayne perform the “ColleGrove” tracks “Gotta Lotta” and “Blue C-Notes” at SXSW.
Right now, much of the hip-hop world is down in Austin, TX for South By Southwest. The festival kicked off on Friday (Mar. 11) and will run through this upcoming Sunday (Mar. 20). Some crazy parties have already gone down, including Samsung’s Galaxy Life Fest.
It’s no surprise that the headliner of Samsung’s party was Lil Wayne, as just last week, the company unveiled a new ad campaign for its Galaxy S7 smartphone, of which Tunechi is the star. Wayne was also joined by 2 Chainz, with whom he just dropped a joint album, and before the ColleGrove pair took the stage, Chuck D and Public Enemyrevved up the party with some of their all-time classics.
Wayne and Tity Boi’s set was filled with classics, too, such as their first-ever collaboration, 2007’s “Duffle Bag Boy,” as well as 2013’s “Rich as Fuck.” They each dropped some solo bombs as well — Chainz with “I’m Different” and Wayne with “Lollipop” and “A Milli.” Before they began performing their brand new material — which was streamed live on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the “two legends” were introduced by Dallas Mavericks owner, and good friend of Wayne’s, Mark Cuban. Wayne and Chainz then performed what’s emerging as one of the year’s top bangers, the Mannie Fresh-produced “Gotta Lotta.”
Also on Kimmel, they dropped another ColleGrove standout, the Mr. 2-17-produced “Blue C-Note.” Looks mighty lit. Who’s heading to SXSW this week? HNHH is heading down on Tuesday (Mar. 15), and we’ll be sponsoring a whole bunch of parties, including an all-Chi show with Herbo, Durk, and Montana as well as Street Execs’ Bankroll Fresh tribute party, featuring performances by Tory Lanez, Boosie, and more.
