A haircut turned into an attempted murder when a woman tried to shoot a barber who gave her an alleged botched hairstyle, NBC San Diego reports.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at the 619 Barber Shop when Adrian Blanche Swain, 29, received a trim from barber Manny Montero. The father of two says Swain was happy with her new haircut and even gave a $20 tip on top of the $20 haircut.

An hour later, everything changed when Swain returned with a bald spot and a loaded gun.

NBC San Diego reports:

“She said, ‘Look what you did to my hair,’” Montero said. “She came in with a bald spot on the side, and I am like, ‘I didn’t do that.’” Disgruntled, the woman pulled out a gun and tried firing at Montero, police said. The gun was loaded but malfunctioned, clicking three times as Swain allegedly tried to fire off rounds.

“She had it. She was gonna do it,” said Montero. “For some reason, God was there.”

Montero’s co-worker Chris Tatum interfered when the gun jammed and brought her to the floor until the police arrived. Tatum says if the gun worked, she would have shot up to four people. Police later confirmed that the gun was real and was indeed loaded.

Swain was arrested and is expected to face attempted murder charges. Montero says he took the rest of the day off to be with his daughter and son after his “life flashed before his eyes.”

Police are still investigating the incident.
