With 2015 coming to a close, many fans, spectators and critics alike are taking a moment to reflect on the past 12 months in hip-hop music and culture.

‘What was the best album of the year’ is one of the most frequented questions among those reeling off their year-end musings.

Earl Sweatshirt recently revealed that his favorite album was Days With Dr. Yen Lo – a project from Dr. Yen Lo, a duo comprised of rapper Ka and producer Preservation.

“IMA LET YOU FINISH BUT DR YEN LO WAS THE GREATEST ALBUM OF THIS YEAR NO QUESTIONS ASKED IF YOU DON’T KNOW NOW YOU KNOW,” Earl Sweatshirt tweeted Saturday (December 19). “REAL TALK, I HAVE NO PROBLEM ADMITTING THAT @BrownsvilleKa IS THE BEST RAPPER. HIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND OVERALL SKILL LEVEL IS UNCANNY

“IF YOU ARE AN ADULT, READ BOOKS, AND ENJOY RAP MUSIC YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO @BrownsvilleKa TRUST ME I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE TO YOU,” Earl continues in a subsequent tweet.

The Los Angeles, Calif. rapper went on to note that he will not be offering an explanation to those who question his judgement.

“I DON’T HAVE THE PATIENCE TO SIT ON THIS WEBSITE AND EXPLAIN TO STUPID PEOPLE WHY KA IS THE BEST, IF YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THATS YOUR BAD.”

Ka later thanked Earl for his encouraging comments, adding that he thinks the former Odd Future rapper is “one of the great writers of this generation.”

“Thank you @earlxsweat that means a lot coming from you,” the rapper said in reply. “I’m honored brother. I think you’re one of the great writers of this generation.”
