Two Black girls we love are making magic! Enter Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira from The Walking Dead.

Nyong’o is headed Off Broadway for her New York stage debut in Eclipsed, a 2009 play written by Gurira. The play, directed by Lisel Tommy, is described as a “feminist reading” of the Second Liberian Civil War. Eclipse is set in 2003, and follows a group of women who are abducted and made the wives of a rebel commander.

The original play played at the Yale Repertory Theater, and in case you didn’t know, Gurira is an award-winning playwright. Her first play, In the Continuum, won an Obie Award in 2004, and had an Off Broadway run in 2005.

According to reports, previews for Eclipsed Off Broadway begins on September 29 and will run at the Public Theater from October 14 to November 8.
