Mitchelle Blair, the mother who admitted to killing two of her children and hiding their bodies in a deep freezer, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole on Friday.
Blair pleaded guilty in June to first-degree murder and urged the judge to give her the death penalty if Michigan had it. In the closing statement before the sentencing, Judge Dana Hathaway stated,
“As a mother, one of your primary responsibilities was to protect your kids. And in that respect, you failed in the worst possible way. You imposed the death penalty on your own children. Thankfully, that house of horrors that you created is no longer in existence.”
Blairs two surviving kids, ages 17 and 8, have been placed with an aunt.
