A new exclusive video, obtained by TMZ Sports, proves that Atlanta Hawks forward Thabo Sefolosha did not resist arrest and was actually was attacked by the NYPD and suffered an on-impact broken (fibula) ankle from one of the cops hitting him with a baton. Sefolosha was also placed in a headlock and wrested to the ground.

The new TMZ video shows is that while Sefolosha and Antic wound up detained early Wednesday morning, the former accusations of Sefolosha “charging” at cops were seemingly false and the athlete was tugged and pulled by cops right before his injury. He could even be heard in the video, and as witnesses claim, telling the NYPD to “calm down.”
This unraveling incident occurred around 4 o’clock in the morning in New York City’s neighborhood of Chelsea. As HelloBeautiful reported, at that time, fellow NBA player Chris Copeland, of the Indiana Pacers, and fiancee Katrine Saltara were shockingly stabbed by Shevoy Bleary-Murdock in front of the Fulton House projects, after having left nearby hotspot 1Oak.
How this connects to Sefolosha is that he and his Hawks teammate Pero Antic were arrested for “obstruction” of “governmental administration”, meaning they were allegedly averting cops from marking the area between Fulton and 1Oak a crime scene, after Copeland’s stabbing. Antic and Sefolosha did not mingle with Copeland and Saltara, but were also seen at the club and were near the entrance as investigation began.
The following Thursday as the New York media waited outside Midtown Community Court, Sefolosha can be seen on video limping and he’s been officially sidelined for the rest of the NBA season. The Atlanta Hawks , Indiana Pacers and the NBA are all currently conducting extensive research into the matter, which will includes questioning the tactics and purpose of the NYPD interacting with Sefolosha and Antic.
Reports confirm that Copeland and Saltara were taken to Manhattan’s Bellevue Hospital, and that another woman was also victimized by suspect Bleary-Murdock’s rage. He has since been arrested and charged.
