After 82 years in business, Hostess has decided to close up shop after a strike by bakery workers could not be resolved. The strike started on November 9th. The members of the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union crippled the company’s ability to produce and deliver products and shut down delivery routes. Hostess was able to reach an agreement with the TEAMSTER’S UNION but the smaller union refuse to negotiate and even with a notice last Friday, by Hostess that the company would end up shutting down completely which would result in 18,000 employees losing their jobs with the Holidays right around the corner. Who ever thought that we would live in a world with out WONDERBREAD & TWINKIES ??
