R. Kelly taps into the past and takes a lot of what set Ray Charles apart from his competition and used it in his latest track, “All Rounds On Me.” The always-inspired Kelly used funk, soul and R&B to create a song that’s as soulful as it is funky.

The track is set to be on his next album, Write Me Back, which should be released on June 26th. R. Kelly is known for reinventing himself and allowing his music to cross genre lines. We’re left wondering if Write Me Back will be an album filled with classic funky hits or if this one track is a nod to the Ray Charles’ and Little Richards of the world and he’s going in another direction with the rest of the album.
