According to TMZ.com, troubled NFL quarterback Mike Vick canceled his sit down interview with Oprah Winfrey today. It was to be his first major interview since being released from prison where he served 18 months on dog fighting and animal cruelty charges.

Oprah had won the bet she wagered with CNN host Piers Morgan about who would land the interview with Vick first.

Vick said in a statement, per PhillySportsDaily.com: “After careful consideration, I will need to postpone the taping of the Oprah Winfrey interview scheduled for February 22. I admire and respect Oprah and hope to be able to participate in an interview in the future.”

Said Don Halcombe, spokesman for Harpo Productions, per Michael McCarthy of USA Today: “Michael Vick was scheduled to be a guest on The Oprah Winfrey show for an episode airing next Thursday, February. Mr. Vick’s representative called last night to cancel his appearance for personal reasons.”

We can only speculate that Oprah was going to grill him about the dog fighting. Or maybe she planned to bring out the kindhearted people who adopted Vick’s surviving victims.
