2016 NBA Finals - Game Seven

Is LeBron James leaving Cleveland again? Because his talents are back on the market. The 31-year-old is on his free agent status once again after turning down a $24 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Recently, LeBron was weeping tears of joy when he finally won an NBA Championship with the Cavs. It seemed like he was back with the team for good, but ESPN.com reports that the father of three has now opted out of a contract for another round with the Ohio team. With $24 million on the table in Cleveland, LeBron’s manager revealed the NBA powerhouse has decided his best move is to be a free agent.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that LeBron is leaving Cleveland. As the three-time champion told ESPN during the Cav’s Championship Parade, he adores the city. However, he did hint he was ready for his management team to play hard ball to get what he’s worth.

“I love it here in Cleveland. I have no intentions of leaving,” LeBron stated. “There are some technicalities to take care of that I’ll leave up to my agent. That’s right from the horse’s mouth.”

Taking a step back could mean LeBron may potentially sign a multi-year contract worth up to $30 million. He would then only get about $27.5 million for a single-year contract.

Either way, the Cavaliers better get their coins together if they wants to keep King James, because it sounds like he could once again be taking his talents to the city that gives him the best offer.

While $24 million is a huge contract, LeBron’s likely not keeping all the money for himself. Just last year he spent $41 million to send more than 1,000 students to college, according to Fox Sports.
