The December issue of Essence Magazine gifts us with the beauty of Viola Davis and the chemistry between her and Denzel Washington. The Oscar-winning actors star together in August Wilson’s, Fences, set in the 1950’s about the changing and evolving African-American experience and the effects of unrealized pain on family. There are already rumors that Viola could win an Oscar for her role.
She looks fabulous, in an a-line leather button down biased-cut dress. While her dress was beautiful, the real standout was her hair and makeup. I love the edgy haircut and her glowing makeup (achieve the look here). The deep blush and raisin red lipstick paired with what looks like a truly joyous smile, is just perfection.
This isn’t the first time that Denzel and Viola stepped into these roles. They starred in the Broadway play, Fences, where Viola Davis won a Tony in 2010 for her role as Rose.
Denzel is not only acting in Fences but also directing. Davis applauded his dynamic abilities, stating, “It’s not always that a director can say one thing that unlocks a scene when you’re blocked, especially with a scene that you’ve done so many times, but Denzel did that time and time again. He has a huge honesty gauge, so when he asked me to trust him, I did.”
