There are some stories that are hard to write about because they are not only difficult to believe, but incredibly grim to describe. A judge sentenced Mitchelle Blair, mother of four, to life in prison for the deaths of two of her children: Stephen Berry, 9, and Stoni Blair, 13. The USA Today reports that Blair physically abused all of her children including excessively beating them and burning them – one time she burned her eldest daughter, 17, with an iron.

The details of the two children’s death are grim. She burned her son’s genitals with water among other grave acts, before suffocating him with a bag over his head, but claims she never meant to kill him. This occurred in 2012. She admits to intentionally killing her daughter Stoni, whom she starved and beat repeatedly over the head, and burned by throwing hot water on her body. This took place in 2013. She left the children’s bodies in the freezer for years until they were finally discovered in March. Blair’s other children are in the are of a relative as of now, while their fathers who claim to not have known of the abuse, may have their parenting rights revoked.
This story is just heartbreaking and incredibly troubling because Blair has shown no remorse whatsoever. It leaves one wondering what sort of human being commits these evil acts. There are truly no words to describe the hell this “mother” put her children through. The kind of trauma that her kids who survived will face will take many years to recover. And to the sweet angels – Stephen Berry and Stoni Blair – who were so cruelly taken away from the world, we hope you are at peace.
