With Pusha T’s debut album My Name Is My Name blasting from cars everywhere, the Virginia Beach emcee who’s known for his accurate storytelling of his former d-boy days, talks about the moment his parents learned he was dealing drugs.

Push stopped by Sway Calloway and Shade 45 to promote his record and also discuss the writing and recording process. During the interview, the G.O.O.D Music emcee admitted to having to write his lyrics down on paper and even demonstrated how he finds a melody to his songs.

The “40 Acres” emcee also outlined the day his parent learned of his criminal activities. While his mother didn’t approve, it was his father, a blue-collar man from Chattanooga, TN that Push described as a honorable, who was the most taken back and upset.

Peep the interview at the jump.
