MESQUITE, Texas – A jewelry store owner opened fire inside a mall after someone stole a ring.
Mesquite police said the incident happened at about 4:45 p.m. Friday in the Classique Jewelry store inside Town East Mall.
The thief allegedly asked to see a ring, grabbed it and ran out the store. Police said the store owner chased him and shot at him inside JC Penney.
The thief got away.
Police said no one was hurt. But the risk the store owner took to protect his property put mall shoppers and employees in danger.
He may face charges for deadly conduct.
