My Slim Shady bias has been dwindling over the past few months. This disinterest won’t last, but it just seems as if he’s been trying a tad too hard on tracks lately. Between awkward punchlines about A&W hot dogs, “I Need A Doctor” in it’s entirety and the overall replay value of Recovery, Chrysler’s favorite spokesman is wearing me out. But, with great talent comes an advantage in the law of averages and Em’s newly-released unreleased “50 Ways” is engaging enough to smack me back to reality. Despite seemingly being just another ode to his worse half, Marshall’s descriptive and deadpan delivery make up for the unoriginality, plus the slick interpolation of Paul Simon’s folk rock classic works well to tie the overall track together.
Let the record that this isn’t simply a sample. Hypetrak says the singer may be Martin Lee Gore, the founding member of Depeche Mode.
