Police say 21-year-old Dequan Raindle was found unresponsive at his mom’s Corsicana, Texas home Monday night and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Raindle graduated from Corsicana High School in 2012 and was a junior at Harding University, where he played defensive end and was studying engineering.

“He was a backbone to everybody, a go-getter, a don’t-stop-‘til-it’s-done dude,” said Raindle’s friend, Dominic Kelly.

The medical examiner says preliminary autopsy results are inconclusive.

A cause of death may not be revealed until toxicology results come back in three weeks.

“He was in tip top condition, and for him to go to sleep and not get up, I feel like he may have overworked himself,” said Raindle’s father, Curtis.

Community members are trying to rally support for Raindle’s family with several fundraisers being organized in Coriscana.
