Gentrification has slowly but surely taken over the greater New York area…and now, it seems, it’s taken over Puerto Rico!

Fox News Latino is reporting that the residents of Puerto Rico are facing a unique problem as a result of the rise of gentrification: the cost of living has become so high, it is unsustainable. In fact, as it stands right now, the price of such things as water, food, sewer, and taxes is higher than in the so-called “mainland” of the United States. As a result, in 2013 alone, tens of thousands of Puerto Ricans have already left for greener pastures and more affordable costs of living.
