Lancaster

Many families in our neighboring city of Lancaster were ravaged by storms and tornadoes.  In an effort to ease their suffering and assist them in this time of need, two of our students – Valette Reese and Arnedia Webb – have called upon the entire Quinnite Nation to stand in the gap for Lancaster.  Therefore, the Quinnite Nation is organizing a “Quinnites for Lancaster Supplies Drive”.  We are asking everyone to help us put our arms around the students and families of Lancaster by donating the following:

1.     Canned goods

2.     Toiletries (soap, toothpaste,

4.     Blankets

5.     Towels

6.     Tents

7.     Medical supplies

Donation Center Established at LISD Indoor Practice Facility

Lancaster ISD works with community organizations to assist in tornado relief efforts.

Lancaster, TX/Lancaster ISD

The Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) is assisting the Lancaster community organizations in coordinating efforts to provide services or recovery assistance to disaster victims. A donation center has been established at the Indoor Football Practice Field at the south end of the Lancaster High School Campus at 200 E. Wintergreen, Lancaster, TX 75134.

Donations of the following items are needed:

• Bottled water

• Non-perishable foods

• Toiletries and hygiene items

• Baby food

• Diapers

• New or gently used school uniforms

• New undergarments

• Cleaning supplies

Volunteers are needed to set up and organize the donations. The donation center will open for services on Thursday at 1 p.m.

The schedule for the donation center for the remainder of the week:

• Thursday, April 5, 2012 – 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

• Friday, April 6, 2012 – 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

• Saturday, April 7, 2012 – 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

• Sunday, April 8, 2012 – times to be determined

The Lancaster Police Department will be escorting Residents into affective homes starting at 8am on Wednesday, April 4th, residents that need access to these areas should report to the Brookhaven Dr. and N. Dallas Avenue intersection.

A Shelter has been established at the Lancaster Recreation Center located at 1700 Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Arlington

The Salvation Army has set up a disaster shelter in Arlington located at 712 W. Abram Street.

Additionally, the Salvation Army deployed two mobile emergency disaster kitchens to provide food, hydration, and emotional comfort to people in two locations as a result of tornado touchdowns.

The Salvation Army quickly deployed two mobile emergency disaster kitchens to provide food, hydration, and emotional comfort to people in two locations as a result of tornado touchdowns:

• I-20 at Kelly Elliott in Arlington

• Green Oaks and Waterview in Arlington

• The Salvation Army community center in Pleasant Grove where local residents have sought a safe place to stay during the storms.

The mobile vehicles may move to new locations depending on changing needs or emerging situations.

Forney

C-Life is located at 204 FM 1641 is taking donations. Contact number is 972-800-9709. Donations items most needed include: Rubbermaid totes (for homeowners to collect salvageable items), large tarps, clothing, work gloves, water, non-perishable foods (check expiration dates before donating!), first aid items, baby formula/bottles, diapers, and can openers.
