According to Mansfield ISD Communications Department:
2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the first integrated graduating class in Mansfield ISD. The district has not always been as diverse as you see it today. In 1954, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled “separate but equal” schools for white and black students unconstitutional. However, it wasn’t until 1965 that integration began in MISD.
It was a time of tension, but over the years, MISD has truly embraced the strength in our diversity. Check out the video below:
