U.S Sen. Cory Booker introduced a bill Tuesday, August 1, 2017, to make marijuana legal on a federal level. Booker is a New Jersey Democrat in favor of the legalization of marijuana. His bill is called The Marijuana Justice Act and in this bill, people who are serving time for marijuana offenses should be resentenced and the charges should be removed.

“Our country’s drug laws are badly broken and need to be fixed. They don’t make our communities any safer — instead they divert critical resources from fighting violent crimes, tear families apart, unfairly impact low-income communities and communities of color and waste billions in taxpayer dollars each year,” Booker states.

New Jersey and 28 other states allow marijuana to be used only if it is medicinal. Eight states, not including the District of Columbia, have legalized marijuana on an enjoyment level.

We are all rooting for you Sen. Booker!
