Oprah Winfrey gave away the last $6 million of her Oprah Winfrey’s Angel Foundation to six charter schools that are among the few bright spots in the nation’s education system.
Oakland, Calif.-based Aspire Public Schools, a nonprofit that operates 30 charter schools in California, was one of the six receiving the generous donation during Monday’s broadcast. The network serves nearly 10,000 students in East Palo Alto, Modesto, Oakland, Stockton, Sacramento and Los Angeles.
The other charter networks that received grants are in Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston, Denver and New Orleans. Source: EURWeb.com
