Although fans of Mary J. Blige were excited to hear that the Queen of Hip-Hop/ Soul planned to further her education at Howard University, it seems that Mary’s news may have come prematurely.

As previously reported Blige performed a concert on “Good Morning America” where she excitedly told the audience she was set to attend Howard saying,

As you know I never got a chance to finish high school but they gave me my honorary degree the other day…and I’ve been accepted into Howard University, the class of 2014!”

Her acceptance may be a figment of her imagination however now that a representative for the University issued a statement denying her claims.

According to a Howard University rep,

Blige has yet to even complete the admission process.

They released a statement saying,

We encourage Ms. Blige to continue her studies and welcome her consideration of Howard University in the future. We are happy to work with Ms. Blige on completing the formal process for admission.”

The institution previously refused to speak on her admission to the University because the information is considered “classified” but later released the formal statement denying her claims.

Mary has since taken to her Twitter to defend herself and posted a series of  tweets saying,
