Police are investigating the shooting death of a man who was last seen working out at a 24 Hour Fitness facility.

According to police, 31-year-old Gerardo Castanon-Banuelos died sometime between Friday evening and Saturday morning.

He had been working out at the gym on Story Road and Highway 183 in Irving at about 9:30 p.m. Friday. Then police believe he left with someone because his vehicle remained in the parking lot overnight.

His body was found Saturday morning near the entrance of McFalls Park in the 1400 block of S. Carrier Parkway in Grand Prairie. His wallet was missing and he had been shot multiple times, police said.

Family members said Castonon-Banuelos was the youngest of eight children. He was a religious man who was dedicated to his family and worked hard.

They said he didn’t drink or take drugs and they don’t believe he was involved in any kind of trouble.

Police are investigating the case as a homicide. They are reviewing surveillance video from the gym.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 972-988-8477 or Det. Heath Wester at 972-237-8911.
