DALLAS – Police have arrested two men suspected of raping an SMU student in East Dallas.
On Saturday morning a 20-year-old student was walking with three other people in the 1800 block of N. Garrett Avenue. They were leaving a party when police said 28-year-olds Arturo Arevalo and Alfonso Zuniga pulled up alongside them.
Police said the men kidnapped the woman at gunpoint. They took her to an empty parking lot where they raped her. They later dropped her off in the 1300 block of S. Haskell in Fair Park.
According to a police report, the men covered the woman’s eyes with duct tape. But, she was able to flag down a driver and get help.
Arevalo and Zuniga now face aggravated sexual assault charges.
Police believe they are also responsible for an aggravated robbery that occurred about 15 minutes minutes before the kidnapping.
