In August, HelloBeautiful and Toyota presented Front Row featuring Jidenna. The “Classic Man” emcee performed at a pop-up concert at Terminal West in Atlanta.

At the plush venue, which features high-end lighting and sound, as well as an outdoor roof deck overlooking the historic train tracks of West End, Atlanta, Jidenna shared why he believes his work is a service to music aficionados.

The Nigerian-American musician said, “I think of my work as a service to people the same way like a firefighter or a police officer or a judge or sanitation worker or a plumber goes to work and serves the people. This is not for me. If it was for me, I’d be in my bedroom and making all the music that I want to hear.”

In addition to speaking with HelloBeautiful regarding his art form, Jidenna shared his behind-the-scenes routine prior to any performance.

“Vocal warmups, body warmups to get myself warm, but the biggest thing is the zone. The zone is beyond all the physical matters.“

So exactly what is the zone for the 31-year-old? “For me, it’s imaging the show the way I want it to go [and] prayer with the band always,” he explains.

Like any artist who prides himself on giving fans his all, Jidenna hopes to transform concertgoers’ lives.
