Moogfest 2011 - Day 1

26-year-old hip-hop producer AraabMuzik was shot and wounded Thursday evening in a Harlem parking lot.

The Rhode Island native was shot in his jaw and right arm, aside from being grazed in the head. He was immediately sent to Harlem Hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries. His friend, James Malloy, was also wounded in the right leg and is in stable condition at St. Luke’s Hospital.

According to the NY Daily News,

The victims were shot inside the ProPark America parking garage on W. 125th St. about 7 p.m. Source said AraabMuzik and Malloy had just left another friend’s home and went to the garage, where the producer got behind the wheel of his friend’s BMW. As he and Malloy headed to the exit, two men approached the driver’s side, then one of the suspects tricked AraabMUZIk into thinking he had dropped something. Shortly after rolling down the window, shots were fired.

This isn’t the first time the producer has come face to face with a death scare; in 2013, Araab was shot in an attempted robbery in Providence, Rhode Island. Born Abraham Orellana, he is best known for his production work with Cam’Ron and Fabolous, as well as his impressive skills on the drum machine.

We pray for AraabMuzik’s speedy recovery.
