TLC’s ‘Submissive Wives Guide To Marriage‘  joined the faith television roster  and has spurred a multitude of reactions to the biblical term.

The show’s description billed it:

Enter the private world of submissive wives, who believe a woman’s role is to serve and submit to her man.

Take a look at the trailer:

I do not judge others for choosing a dominant or submissive role in their relationship.  I do have a problem with the notion that the woman should be submissive simply because she is a woman.

Never in my house. My partner and I are equals. I actually find this show sad. People are allowed to live how they want but I can’t help but pity the women that live like this. I just find it to be a sad life.

Bible scripture says in Ephesians 5:21-24:

21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ. 22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her;

Paul’s instruction in verse 21 is directed to every believer. Christians, without exception, are to “be subject to one another,” without any exceptions. Submission is an act of both leading and being led.It is the act of allowing oneself to be lead to be a member fully in the body of Christ and allowing one to serve the church without reservation with complete love.. It must not be abused. If it is abused it violates the holy covenant that a marriage should be.
