If you happened to be one of the millions of viewers to tune in to season two of MTV’s high-rated reality show From G’s to Gents, then you can already bear witness to the authenticity of the hard-edged, street-laced rhymes of Alabama raised, Hawaii-based game spitter Teddy Tee aka Dub Duces.

The third runner-up in the show, Teddy was eliminated by the show’s host Fonzworth Bentley in the final round. Now away from the bright lights of Tinsel Town, Teddy Tee is back in the recording booth. After releasing two well-received EPs distributed virally via iTunes, and a full-length album Small World , Teddy Tee offers a heavy hitting mixtape Horsepowerhosted by DJ Scream. The mixtape features a remix of his single Alabama, and the single and hood anthem About Nuthin. Both singles are being played on the radio throughout Alabama and the official video for Alabama has over 100k views on youtube.

Teddy Harris was born in the sleepy town of Camden, Ala., some 45 minutes south of Montgomery. Coming up in a small town of about 2,200 people, Teddy always knew that there were greener pastures outside of Alabama.

“It’s real slow, real country,” says Teddy. “We got three traffic lights, two in one spot and one on the other side of the street.”

So to escape the monotony of backwoods Alabama, he packed up and headed North for Atlanta soon after high school graduation. Teddy was only 17 years old.

Knowing that a regular nine-to-five job was not for him, Teddy took to the streets to earn money for bread and meat. Unfortunately, he was caught on the wrong side of the law and wound up serving a year-and-a-half on a dope charge.

“Like they say, you come on vacation and leave on probation,” he jokes. “I didn’t have any game. I’m green, from Alabama. I come from a small town. My whole life has been revolved around needing money and getting money so I got caught up.”

When his feet touched free ground, he eventually met a girl on MySpace, who convinced him to move to Seattle with her. While there in Washington, he heard about MTV casting for reality show From G’s to Gents and the chance to win $100,000.

He filled out the online application, sent it in and shortly after, show directors flew Teddy to Los Angeles to film the show. Although he didn’t win, Teddy did end up being among the final three contestants.

“The show took 30 days to shoot and ran for two and a half months,” Teddy explains. “I didn’t get nothing but notoriety from the show. After that, people knew me.”

Teddy decided to take advantage of the notoriety. So he revisited an old passion of making music. He linked up with some local producers and engineers and began recording. The result was two back-to-back EPs released in 2010- More To Come and Straight out of Wilcox, named after the county where he grew up in Alabama and Small World, his debut album released in 2013.

Constantly on a paper chase, he recently relocated to Hawaii and has been rocking the fantasy islands with his reality-based music. Teddy Tee continues to elevate his movement with the forthcoming mixtape Horsepower hosted by DJ Scream.
