The trailer for Spike Lee‘s latest film, “Da Sweet Blood Of Jesus,” funded by last year’s divisive Kickstarter, is finally here.

Billed as a new kind of love story for “human beings addicted to blood,” the latest from Lee follows Dr. Hess Greene, an anthropologist who is stabbed with an ancient relic and awakens with an uncontrollable thirst for blood. And no, he’s not a vampire.

While isolating himself from the rest of the world, Dr. Greene (played by Stephen Tyrone Williams) begins a doomed romance with the widow of his colleague, Ganja Hightower (played by British actress Zaraah Abrahams). The trailer is kind of morbid, so we’re interested to see where the comedy will come into play in the film.

“Da Sweet Blood of Jesus” opens in theaters on February 13, 2015.
