Former Miss Universe Stefanía Fernández is being displayed in a new kind of editorial light: a haunting political ad campaign. The Venezuelan beauty lent her image to a campaign entitled Your Voice Is Your Power, shot by photographer Daniel Bracci.
The campaign hopes to shed light on both the oppression placed upon the media in Venezuela and various human rights violations that take place across the country. The campaign plays out in real-time posts on Bracci’s Instagram account. Most posts were accompanied by the hashtag #MordazasEnVenezuela (#GaggedinVenezuela).
Fernández was photographed with a tiara upon her head, in stark contrast to her dirt-streaked face, bloody tears streaming down her face, and bound and gagged by rope.
The campaign also features images of journalists, political prisoners, athletes, and actors.
“The campaign started because something directly affected me, when my grandfather passed away because of the hampa (the underworld-like situation) taking place in Venezuela,” Bracci told Informe21.
